Hot Stone Massage
60 minutes ~ $145 | 90 minutes ~ $215 | 120 minutes ~ $280
Lead Therapist: add $20 per hour
Hot stone massage uses smooth, heated stones alongside your therapist’s hands to reach muscle tension that pressure alone struggles to release. The heat does much of the work, which means deeper relief without deeper pressure.
It is an ancient healing art, and it remains our most requested massage through the cold and rainy months. Clients dealing with arthritis or stiff, aching joints tend to find it the most forgiving treatment on our menu.
At Nature’s Spa in South Charlotte, we pair the stones with warm herbal oils and work at a pace that lets the heat settle in. We keep our daily bookings limited, so your session is never rushed.
Available in 60, 90, and 120 minute sessions.
Every session is adapted to where you are in your pregnancy and how you are feeling that day. Tell your therapist what aches, what has changed since last time, and what you would rather we leave alone.
What Is Hot Stone Massage?
An ancient healing art using smooth, heated stones and warm oils.
Smooth basalt stones are warmed to a carefully controlled temperature, then placed along the back, shoulders, and other areas holding tension. Your therapist also works with the stones in hand, gliding them through warm oil in long, firm strokes.
The result is penetrating warmth that reaches tense or locked muscles and eases into aching joints. Muscle tension melts rather than being forced open, which is why so many clients describe it as the most deeply relaxing treatment they have had.
A hint of healing oils soothes the senses alongside the physical work, easing the mind as much as the body.
If you are unsure whether the timing is right for you, call us and we will talk it through before you book.
How the Heat Works
Heat is doing something specific here, not just feeling pleasant. Warmth encourages blood vessels to widen, which increases circulation to the area being worked.
Warm muscle tissue is also more pliable than cold tissue. That means your therapist can reach deeper layers without applying the kind of pressure that makes a deep tissue massage uncomfortable. If you want depth of relief but not intensity of pressure, this is the treatment that gives you both.
The stones are checked for temperature before they touch you, and your therapist adjusts throughout. Warm should never mean too hot.
Stone massage is a very effective way to create harmony and restore a sense of balance within the soft tissue, which is why it has endured as a treatment for so long.
Who Hot Stone Massage Helps Most
Hot stone suits some people better than others, and it is worth knowing whether you are one of them.
Arthritis and joint discomfort. Sustained warmth eases stiff, aching joints in a way that hands alone cannot, and without the pressure that can aggravate sensitive areas.
Cold-weather tension. Our most requested massage through the colder and rainier months, when muscles guard and shoulders creep toward the ears.
Anyone who finds deep tissue too intense. You get depth of release without the pressure that makes some clients brace through a session.
Chronic stress and poor sleep. The combination of heat, warm oil, and unhurried pace settles the nervous system quickly.
Locked shoulders, neck, and low back. The classic desk-and-commute pattern responds particularly well to heat before pressure.
You are welcome to add any of our service enhancements. A Revitalizing Scalp Treatment or Rejuvenating Foot Treatment both pair beautifully with hot stone work.
If you would like the warmth without a full hot stone session, Himalayan Hot Stone is also available as an enhancement to any massage.
What to Expect, and When to Check First
You will be draped throughout, and your therapist steps out of the room while you get settled. Stones are placed on top of the draping or directly on skin depending on the area, always at a temperature checked beforehand.
Tell your therapist immediately if a stone feels too warm. Comfort is the whole point, and adjusting takes seconds. Most clients find the temperature deeply pleasant, but everyone’s tolerance differs and yours is the one that matters.
Heat is not right for everyone. Please check with your doctor first if you are pregnant, have diabetes or neuropathy affecting sensation, high blood pressure, a heart condition, varicose veins, or any circulatory disorder. The same applies to recent surgery, open wounds, or sunburn. Tell us when you book and we will recommend an alternative if hot stone is not suitable for you.
FAQ
How hot are the stones?
Warm enough to penetrate muscle, never hot enough to burn. Every stone is temperature checked before it touches you, and your therapist adjusts throughout the session. If anything feels too warm, say so and it is fixed in seconds.
Is hot stone better than a regular massage?
Not better, different. Heat lets your therapist reach deeper muscle layers with less physical pressure, so you get depth of release without intensity. If you love firm pressure, a deep tissue or integrative massage may suit you more. If you want to melt rather than be worked on, hot stone is the one.
Can I get a hot stone massage while pregnant?
We do not recommend it. Raising core body temperature during pregnancy carries risk, so our prenatal massage is the better choice and is designed specifically for you. Talk to us and we will book you into the right treatment.
Should I book 60, 90, or 120 minutes?
Sixty minutes covers the classic back, neck, and shoulder pattern. Ninety allows full body work without rushing, and is the most popular choice for hot stone because the heat needs time to do its work. Two hours is a genuine escape.
Does it help with arthritis?
Many clients with arthritis or general joint stiffness find hot stone the most comfortable massage on our menu, because sustained warmth eases aching joints without the pressure that can aggravate them. It is not a medical treatment, so check with your doctor if your condition is being actively managed.
What should I wear or bring?
Nothing in particular. You will be draped throughout, and your therapist steps out while you get settled. Warm oil is used, so avoid arriving in anything you would not want a trace of oil on.
Can I book this as a gift for someone?
Absolutely, and hot stone is one of our most popular gift bookings through the holidays. Gift certificates are available digitally or in person.
