For over 20 years I have celebrated Mother’s Day with my family one week AFTER the designated date and even then, the odds of us honoring the occasion are slim to none.  The weekend of Mother’s Day- most appointments are grabbed up long before April showers bring in the May flowers and the weekend after most people choose to book once they realize we don’t have any available appointments to offer the week of.

Then, throughout the rest of the month we host and celebrate those who received a gift certificate for spa services and/or products.

This time spent with other mothers being celebrated or my favorite; celebrating themselves, is what I cherish most about the month of May.

Here are some tried and true gift ideas that I have seen over the years.

You can view all of our Mother’s Day spa options by clicking here

The first and most popular is our Tranquility Spa Package, I don’t believe it shows up on our Mother’s Day menu, or even our Spring Menu. It is one of our year-round treats that never, ever seems to disappoint.

Next is our Mermaid Facial, loaded with highly active ingredients, powerful machine support and tons of luxurious relaxation, it’s a fan favorite from our Spring Menu.

Coming off our Mother’s Day menu specifically is our Mother Nurture Spa Package ~ this deeply exfoliating, and restfully relaxing body treatment includes our most requested Blueberry Detox Firming Facial that is performed while you simmer under the warmth of our layered wrap before soaking away all your worries in our lavender sea salt body bath.

Wanting to celebrate together? Our Mom and Me Spa Package is our most requested for those who want to share in the sensation of radical self-care.  Spend time together as you both rest on a warmed table for your 60-minute massage with aromatherapy and deep foot massage, followed by a fully customizable facial that included a serious scalp massage and a gemstone massage using Eminences award winning Rosehip and Vitamin C oil.

One of our favorites to see come across our screen is the Mom To Be Package ~ if anyone deserves and needs some tender touch it’s the person who is using their own body to make a whole new human being! Give her some time to enjoy a calming, nurturing massage with some special attention to those sore and swollen feet ~ next up is some pampering for the skin with our all-organic facial using microgreens and phytonutrients which are perfect for hormonal conditions often experienced during pregnancy.

Rounding out this list of our most requested is one that just recently made its debut on our menu but as the saying goes; “Necessity is the mother of all invention” ~

Our Tibetan Foot Package was crafted from the outpouring of requests we get for a package that indulges just the feet.  Some of you might not think so, but there are many, many people that simply melt when their feet are massaged. So, we did what we do, and we created an experience for the feet.  Think soaking with dead sea salt, Epson salt, magnesium salt flakes, vetiver, palo santo and other detoxifying, grounding and soothing elements that prepare your feet for the best massage they’ve ever had.  Everyone should experience something like this at least once.

Other Gift Ideas –

Often people want to add a little tangible gift when purchasing a gift certificate for someone.

Here is what I say to everyone who wants to purchase some skin care products for someone but doesn’t really know what they should be getting or what their skin might need.

There are so many skin care products out there and without the expert recommendations from someone who has viewed, touched, and tested your skin we always recommend something that won’t necessarily impact the Ph of the skin or the action of its parts.

Go with our coconut body scrub, this is one of my favorites for the younger crowd to hopefully steer them away from some of the stuff you find in mainstream stores. Those scrubs are loaded with chemicals and when it comes to the skin -all things that touch it should be as organic as possible.

Our apricot body oil or our stone crop body oil are heavenly and always adored. Our strawberry, rhubarb facial mask is just wrong with how good it smells, and although it does have hyaluronic acid, it’s just too good to pass up.

I don’t think there is a person on this planet that would not absolutely love the Facial Recovery Oil- in a boat, with a goat, on a plane, in the rain – it’s just that good.

Now, if you are just starting to use Eminence organic skin care products and you want to either correct or prevent here is what I would get:

I would focus on the products that are going to be the biggest hitters.

  1. Citrus and Kale serum -Vitamin C – protect your skin from the environment. Another favorite is the Rosehip Triple C&E Firming Oil.
  2. Bakuchiol with Niacinamide -Retinol – accelerate cell turnover.  Another favorite is the Bamboo Firming Fluid
  3. Radiance Sunscreen (this also has the organic retinol to help with skin cell turnover) work to prevent UV exposure.

I would use these religiously and then I would start to slowly incorporate things such as peptides, pigment inhibitors and I wouldn’t forget about the neck and hands.

I hope these suggestions help and I hope that whatever gift you choose, be it a spa service, a fine organic skin care product, a delightful brunch at her favorite restaurant, a picnic at the park or breakfast in bed, may it be the best day and may her heart be full and spirit be light.

Heart hug,

Corie

To know me is to hold the truth that I will spare no expense when it comes to sleeping.  I can dive into the psychology of that at another time.

I invest in good pillows and mattresses, I covet the natural fibers of linen and wool and I crave cool nights with warm, heavy bedding. I dream about a bedroom with large windows overlooking multiple different scenic views and a deep fireplace that serves as a stage for shadow dancers and fireflies.

This is made better if there is snow on the ground and a pile of seasoned wood by the door. A gentle scent to the space, maybe jasmine or the sweet blooms of a lemon tree, bottled the summer just past.

Or instead of a floral note, I notice just a hint of cinnamon or an earthy pine resin as I rise from bed, toes nestled into a warm, snuggly rug.

The moonlight peeks in from the ice painted window, illuminating my way to the little library above a nook with a built-in desk.

I select a book, one that promises an adventure that is sure to take a few days to complete and I corral all my reading treats that serve as sustenance for the long literary journey.

There are so many other details that flooded my mind as I began to write this, but I paused and realized I am here to talk about the beauty and mystery of the colder seasons, not my bedroom fantasies, literally, the room for the bed, fantasies.

I guess what I am ultimately getting at is that the colder months scream for a bedroom inventory. You’re likely going to be more homebound, and the nights will be longer, now is the time to create a restful and calming space.

Warm, cozy blankets? Check. 2-4 GOOD pillows that support your default sleeping style? Check. Many, many, riveting reads to turn to during the 3am energy surge and maybe a fur-baby or two nestled in at your feet.  For me, my bedroom is my sanctuary and winter offers up a soothing invitation to rest, hibernate and pay homage to a great, snuggly sleep or deep rest.  This, I know, is one of the many reasons I love the fall weather and the coming of winter and I am knee deep in attic bins, lugging out the wool blankets and flannel sheets.

What are the winter habits that warm your heart and feed your soul??  What do you crave when you know the colder months are approaching?
